Earthquake details
A magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit western Greece near the Greek island of Lefkada on November 17th, 2015 at 7h10 UTC (9h10 local time). More information on the main shock is available here.
This event has been felt for distances larger than 300 km from the epicenter. Local authorities had received damage reports and it appears that the earthquake has killed 2 peoples (see greekreporter ,huffingtonpost, washingtonpost).
The mainshock has been followed by a magnitude 5.3 earthquake at 8h33 UTC (10h33 local time). See here for more information.
The wertern coasts are well known seismic regions and last year, in 2014, two earthquakes with a magnitude greater than 6 occurred. Their location was 60 km southern, near Kefalonia island.
